Aspiring commentators, Naledi Morake from Itsoseng, North West and Alice Khosa from Pretoria, Gauteng have won the very first Sasol League commentator search competition. The two will receive the opportunity to commentate at the 2018 Sasol League National Championship taking place in Kimberley from,4 December 2018 until, 9 December 2018. The search was developed as part of Sasol’s ongoing #Limitless initiative, designed to empower women in football, both on and off the field.
The judges, leading broadcast media commentator, Brian Mofokeng, former Banyana Banyana captain Amanda Dlamini and former Banyana Banyana star, Lydia Monyepao had a tough decision to make as they had to select two of the best commentators, having received over two hundred entries.
Excited to have won the competition, Alice commented, “I’m very happy to have made it all the way to the top two. I prepared well and put a lot of work into my entry and I’m delighted that I got noticed by the judges. Thank you to Sasol and SAFA for this amazing opportunity, I promise to do my best.”
To enter the competition, contestants had to send a one to two-minute video of themselves commenting as if they were at the Sasol League National Championship. The competition ran from Friday, 16 November 2018 to Monday, 26 November 2018. The winners will receive mentorship from Brian Mofokeng ahead of the National Champs.
Winner, Naledi also commented, “My dream is finally coming true and I was so excited when I received the call. Coming from Itsoseng, I’ve always been inspired by the likes of Brian Mofokeng and I believe that this is my chance to show what I am capable of. Thank you to Sasol and SAFA for giving us this opportunity.”
