Top class football continues to fuel Day 2 of the Sasol League National Championship

The fans at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium were left begging for more, as goals flowed on Day 2 of the Sasol League tournament. It was a busy day for the teams that had played on Day 1 of the tournament – University of Fort Hare FC, Ramatlaohle Ladies FC, and Croesus FC who played their second matches today, and coincidentally they had all emerged victorious in the games that they played on the first day of tournament.

The University of Fort Hare FC dispatched KwaZulu Natal-based team Lindelani Ladies FC in the first match of Day 2 beating them 1-0, delivering shocking results to the KwaZulu Natal-based team. The second match saw Croesus FC gain complete control of their second game, enjoying a lead against North West team, Royal Queens FC, beating them 3-2.

The last match was a tight one for the Limpopo’s Ramatlaohle Ladies FC and Free State-based team Ixias FC as they were neck in neck ending the match at a 1-1 draw.

The atmosphere was relaxed and bright on Day 2 of the tournament as the fans and players seemed to be in a jubilant mood, enjoying the entertainment provided at the stadium and singing their hearts out in typical South African style.

“We are still in disbelief at the talent we witnessed from the ladies and enjoyed each game as the teams fought hard to claim maximum points. We hope the athletes are inspired by each other although the matches are competitive, after all, the purpose of the tournament is for players to learn and draw strength from each other and strive for the impossible. We believe in every player’s dream and know this is where dreams grow”, said Sasol Group Brand and Sponsorships Manager, Dean Somerset.
