Sasol-sponsored Banyana Banyana arrived safely in Abuja Nigeria to a cheerful welcome by the South African High Commission on Sunday, March 31, ahead of their crucial encounter with the Nigerian Super Falcons, in the first leg of the final round of the Olympics qualifier games.
The team wasted no time and commenced their training on Monday, April 1, showing determination and focus as they prepare for the upcoming match. The weather in Nigeria, known for its humidity, presents a new challenge for the Banyana Banyana players. However, the team is adapting well and remains undeterred in their preparation for the match on Friday, April 5.
In a positive development, the team is grateful for the return of Refiloe Jane and Bambanani Mbane, both of whom were injured during the last World Cup which was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Their presence bolsters the experience of the team, a valuable asset needed for this important match.
Nozipho Mbatha, Sasol Senior Manager Group Brand and Sponsorship said “Sasol, the proud sponsor of Banyana Banyana, stands in unity with the team as they embark on this pivotal journey. The company remains steadfast in its support of women’s football development and wishes the team the best of luck in their upcoming match as they continue to demonstrate that it is possible to attain victory with determination and hard work.
